Third season of the donghua Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan.

Mortal’s Journey is a Chinese xianxia donghua that follows the journey of Han Li, a young man from a poor village family who sacrifices himself to join the seven mysterious sect. Despite failing the entrance exam, he is accepted as a medic’s disciple, where he learns medicine and the path of cultivation. However, he encounters trauma when he realizes his medic teacher is not who he seems and his disciple friend changes his path from cultivation to martial arts. The story starts with in-depth character establishment, which almost made me lose interest, but I’m glad I stuck with it.

The main character Han Li, although overpowered, has a unique journey filled with small antagonists and development. The art is stunning and realistic, with detailed animation and well-informed color and lighting. The action scenes are dynamic and unpredictable, with well-informed shot types and excellent sound effects. The music reflects the mood and contributes to the suspenseful atmosphere.

The character development is prominent in the first half of Season 1, where we are introduced to the main cast in the first episode. Although the beginning is confusing and in third person, it contributes to Han Li’s training arc by condensing the good parts. There are no love interests at the moment, but there is potential with the meeting of Teacher Mo’s daughter and Han Li.

Overall, this series is a good watch, with a well-maximized plot, art, sound, and character development. It combines elements of overpowered main characters and philosophical zero to hero cultivation stories. Highly recommended for those who enjoy philosophical and rational stories.
