Despite being presumed dead, Mo Fan's childhood friend Zhang Xiaohou sets out to find him after hearing rumors about his whereabouts. Upon reunion, Mo Fan enlists Zhang Xiaohou and Li Man to eliminate a giant lizard whose soul will help Mo Fan heal from the side effects of his devil powers.

Regained his humanity, Mo Fan reunites with his stepsister Ye Xinxia in Song City, where he encounters a massive snake towering over the buildings. Seeking answers, Mo Fan turns to his teacher Tang Yue who takes him to her island home and reveals her connection to the beast. In exchange for its valuable shed skin, Mo Fan agrees to protect the snake from harm.

However, the situation becomes dire as the White Eagle demon attacks the Western fortress and a plague spreads from Bai City to Song City. With the giant snake being blamed, Mo Fan is determined to clear its name by finding the true cause of the disease and a cure.
